JOB DESCRIPTION

This role is primarily for a Senior Systems Administrator who is accountable to provide critical infrastructure systems support and administration for a 24X7 production mission critical enterprise IT environment that supports a large engineering development and sales user base.

·         Work as a key member of the Asia Pac IT team to provide excellent IT operational support by resolving daily user trouble tickets and critical infrastructure incidents. This would be done in accordance with the defined processes and meeting the agreed service level agreements.

·         Actively participates in problem management, implementation of corrective actions, and improvement of existing processes and service level standards to drive high systems availability, resilience and reliability.

·         Maintain and administer the IT infrastructure by making appropriate configuration changes, applying the necessary security patches, implementing upgrades and enhancements. This would include capacity planning and performance tuning of the environment to optimize performance.

·         Be prepared to work collaboratively with the other IT teams on global and regional projects. This would require active participation and contributions during requirement, design and implementation phases.

·         Manage excellent relationship with vendors.

·         Occasional travel within China and internationally is required.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED

·         University Degree or equivalent qualification with 7-8 years of solid hands-on track record supporting engineering and/or business mission critical systems in the job roles described above.

·         Linux OS skills principally in Red Hat Linux, UNIX OS skills principally in the areas of Sun Solaris and HP UX, and Windows OS skills principally in Windows 2003 & 2008 server OS, Windows XP & Windows 7 desktop OS. Other Microsoft skills in MS Exchange, MS AD and MS IIS are desirable. And server hardware skills in HP blade servers and enclosures, and Dell servers.

·         Storage administration skills in managing NAS and SAN storage solutions based on Netapp and Isilon technologies. With complimenting skills in enterprise tape backup software such as Veritas Netbackup, and enterprise tape library systems such as Sun and Quantum tape libraries.

·         Experienced in administering network services such as DNS, NIS, NFS, LDAP, SSH, FTP, remote access, and security management systems. With good knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.

·         Certification in the above technical skill set is essential.

·         Very strong ability to work independently, as well as part of a global support team with minimal supervision. A team player who possesses a good command of English, and has excellent verbal and written communication skill to communicate effectively with management and users at all levels.

·         Have an analytical mind which can apply trouble shooting skills systemically and methodologically to identify root cause and corrective actions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ThiThis person will be the lead “define market and/or application” system architect within Xilinx and will drive our product definition and application platform strategy to ensure successful penetration of the market. 

§  Specific Duties: 

–         Support development of the strategic plan for the business:

•          Application platform strategy & roadmap

•          Ecosystem partner strategy & roadmap

–         Drive the creation and execution of high value products:

•          Create long-term architectural level relationships with the technical experts who design and influence the evolution of the target application at both customers and customer’s customer.

•           Drive product definition sessions with key architects at target customers.

§  Ensure application/market requirements drive product technical specifications.

•          Drive feasibility assessments and recommend/review/approve product definitions with PM, TME, and other relevant groups, as applicable.

•          Technical lead w/ identified ecosystem partners for the business.

–         Drive unique and compelling value into the application roadmaps and product definitions for silicon and IP (both horizontal and market specific).

–         Support the execution of Business Development strategies for the target application/market:

•          Contribute to Sales account penetration plans.

•          Define prioritized Design Win targets. 

•          Provide systems architecture and solutions support for sales efforts.

•          Lead technical response (architectural proposal) to RFQs and RFPs.

•          Support system-level design-in applications collateral - articles, demos, technical keynotes, panel presentations, and trade show support.

–         Deliver platform-driven design wins at target customers.

–         Demonstrated technical output:

•          Patents and trade secrets (as appropriate)

•          Participation in industry conferences, workshops, panels, standards committees, etc.

•          Journal articles (include Xcell Journal), applications notes, and white papers

•          Articles in industry publications

•          Mentoring of other employees

•          FPGA based Architecture White Papers

Requirements

• BSEE or MSEE equivalent
• >7 years experience in Systems Engineering or Hardware Architecture of Telecommunications or Data Communications Systems
• Knowledge of OTN and PON standards, applications, and hardware architecture
• Knowledge of Carrier Ethernet and Data Center standards, applications, and hardware architecture
• Able to cover topics from network level architecture down to RTL level inside an FPGA
• FPGA architecture and implementation experience
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Bi-lingual Mandarin/English Speaking
• Self-starter, comfortable working and able to provide results in an unstructured environment and reporting in to a remote manager
• Customer interface experience is a plus
